Twenty-two students have been killed in a school collapse in Nigeria, where building collapses are common in Africa’s most populous nation. The All Saints Academy in the Bussa Bugi area of Plateau state in the north of the country collapsed shortly after the students, aged 15 and under, arrived.
The two-storey building of the St. Academy school in the Bossa Bugi area of Jos North in the state collapsed during school hours at around 07:30 GMT, while classes and exams were in progress. The cause of the collapse was not immediately clear.
Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said emergency services, health workers and security forces were at the scene.
