Plane with 19 people on board crashes on take-off in Nepal

A plane belonging to Nepal’s Sauria Airlines crashed today, Wednesday, after skidding on the runway at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport.

The plane was carrying 19 people and was travelling from Kathmandu to the tourist resort of Pokhara, Nepalese state television said.

Nepalese police said a number of people had died in the accident and the pilot had been rescued, without giving the number of dead and injured.

According to the website of Sauria Airlines, the company only operates Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft, according to Sky News Arabia.

Authorities have closed Tribhuvan International Airport to air traffic until further notice.
