Bangladesh’s chief justice and central bank governor resigned on Saturday, officials said, as student protests that forced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed to flee spread .
Law Ministry adviser Asif Nazrul Islam said in a video posted on Facebook that Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan resigned after warning students of “dire consequences” if he did not.
Bangladesh’s central bank governor Abdul Rauf Talukder also resigned, but Finance Ministry adviser Salehuddin Ahmed told reporters that his resignation was not accepted due to the sensitivity of the position.
