The Turkish Ministry of Health announced on Friday that 78 people were injured in a forest fire in the western province of Izmir, 29 of whom are still being treated in hospital.
It added that it had sent 10 ambulances, three teams from the National Medical Rescue Unit and 42 health workers to the area.
On Tuesday, a fire broke out in Izmir’s Yamanlar Mountain area before authorities had it largely under control by Thursday afternoon.
The fire broke out again on Thursday evening and spread rapidly due to winds of up to 80 kilometres per hour, according to Izmir Governor Suleyman Elban.
Three neighbourhoods in the Karsiyaka and Bayrakli districts were evacuated, while 16 buildings were damaged by the fires, authorities said.
