Syrian army columns enter Tartus to hunt down remnants of Assad regime

The western Syrian province of Tartus announced on Friday the arrival of columns of the Ministry of Defence forces to support the Public Security Forces in confronting the remnants of the Assad regime, the Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported.

The Syrian News Agency (SANA) said that Ministry of Defence forces entered the city of Tartus to support the Public Security Forces in confronting the remnants of Assad’s militias and restoring stability and security to the area.

The statement quoted the Tartus governorate as saying: ‘Columns of the Syrian Ministry of Defence forces have entered the city of Banias to pursue the remnants of the fallen regime.

Since Thursday evening, security and military forces from several Syrian regions have been mobilised to support efforts to counter a large-scale attack launched by the remnants of the fallen regime in Jableh and its countryside in the northwestern province of Latakia.
