The death toll from torrential rains and flooding in central Vietnam has risen to 98, while 10 people remain missing, the country’s Disaster and Dyke Management Authority said on Wednesday.
More than 2,000 houses have been damaged and 426 homes have collapsed, the agency said. Floodwaters also inundated over 51,800 hectares of rice fields and other crops, and killed or swept away more than 920,000 poultry and livestock.
Economic losses are estimated at more than 14.3 trillion Vietnamese dong (around USD 570 million), according to the authority.
