The World Bank said on Wednesday that Tunisia’s trade deficit rose by 9 percent in the first nine months of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024.
In a report titled “Strengthening Social Protection for Greater Efficiency and Social Equity,” reviewed by Anadolu Agency, the bank said the widening deficit was driven by sluggish exports and higher imports.
The World Bank estimated the trade deficit at 9 percent of gross domestic product in the first nine months of 2025, up from 8.5 percent in the same period of 2024.
