The 12th summit of the leaders of the Turkic States opened on Tuesday in Gabala, Azerbaijan.
This year’s summit, held under the theme “Peace and Regional Security,” will review efforts to strengthen the institutional framework of the organization and enhance cooperation among member states.
The Turkic States Organization was established on October 3, 2009, originally named the “Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States,” following the Nakhchivan agreement signed by Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
