At least 13 people were killed early Saturday in a landslide in Kenya’s Rift Valley following days of torrential rain, police said.

Nineteen survivors were rescued, while others remain missing. Kenya and neighboring Uganda have faced recurring floods and deadly landslides attributed to climate change.

Last year, 61 people died in similar incidents amid warnings of worsening extreme weather patterns.
