Seventeen people have been killed and 11 others injured following heavy snowfall and flooding in Afghanistan over the past three days.

Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Authority, said on Thursday that the country experienced intense snowfall and strong floods, which caused the casualties.

He added that the floods submerged many homes and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, killed livestock, and affected around 1,800 families. The harsh weather conditions have also disrupted daily life in the affected areas.
