The Tunisian Parliament keeps anti-normalization efforts alive in next Thursday’s session

The Tunisian Parliament’s office, during its meeting today, Monday, announced the scheduling of a general session for next Thursday, November 2, at noon, coinciding with the anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, to discuss the proposed law criminalizing normalization with the Zionist entity. This decision follows discussions on various related issues.

The parliament’s statement indicated that this general session will take place after the Human Rights and Liberties Committee conducts the necessary hearings and consultations with the relevant official parties in this context, as well as consulting the Temporary Supreme Judicial Council regarding this legal proposal, which includes provisions related to the jurisdiction of the courts and the procedures to be followed.

During the parliament’s office meeting, the possibility of a group of MPs visiting Gaza in solidarity with the resistance and the people of Palestine was also discussed.

It is worth noting that a group of political activists, parliament members, and students held a protest today in front of the Parliament building in Bardo. This protest serves as a clear objection to the parliament’s president’s decision to cancel the general session that was supposed to be held today to discuss the bill criminalizing normalization with the Zionist entity. The protesters demanded setting a new date for approving this law as soon as possible.
