The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations football competition is scheduled to begin in Ivory Coast a few days before January 13, 2024, and run through February 11, 2024. The Secretary-General of CAF, Veron Mosengo-Omba, said that excitement for the Africa Cup of Nations has increased dramatically in Europe as well as in the Balkans and Brazil.

Omba has verified that the AFCON matches are being televised in more than 150 countries. The CAF Secretary-General is shocked by the volume of requests for accreditation that African and international media have made in order to cover the 34th edition of the continental championship.

Compared to the previous edition, when the African Union only received 2900 requests for accreditation, CAF received 5200 requests, a significant increase.

The prize money distribution for the teams that make it to the semi-finals is as follows:

1st place: $5 million

2nd place: $2.27 million

3rd place: $2.2 million

4th place: $2.2 million

Six groups, each with four teams, comprise the African teams. At the conclusion of the group stage, the top four teams in third place, as well as the teams that place first and second in each group, advance.

The Africa Cup of Nations, which featured 24 teams in previous editions held in Egypt in 2019 and Cameroon in 2021, is returning to Egypt for a third consecutive year.
