Egyptian media said that an Egyptian-US-Israeli meeting will be held on Sunday in Cairo to discuss the reopening of the Rafah crossing and securing the border between Egypt and Gaza.
The meeting comes in light of Egypt’s insistence on a full Israeli withdrawal from the border crossing with the Gaza Strip and in light of intensive Egyptian efforts to return to truce negotiations in the Gaza Strip and after US President Joe Biden’s proposal for a ceasefire.
The Israeli army occupied the crossing from the Palestinian side last May during its attack on the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah and the invasion of parts of it.
