South African deputies elected Cyril Ramaphosa (71 years old) as President for a second term on Friday evening, with a majority of 283 votes in the National Assembly. This follows the recent legislative elections, comprising 400 deputies.

Judge Raymond Zondo, presiding over the session, announced, “His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa has been declared duly elected President,” after he secured a significant margin over the candidate from the EFF party, leftist radical Julius Malema, who received 44 votes.
