Nine people were killed and dozens more injured when a massive fire broke out at an ammunition depot in the Chadian capital N’Djamena, government officials said on Wednesday.

The fire broke out late on Tuesday and caused shells of various calibres to explode into the sky, with explosions heard kilometres away.
The Minister of Health said the death toll is likely to rise as many of the 46 wounded are critically injured.
