The USS Theodore Roosevelt arrived at a seaport in the southeastern South Korean city of Busan on Saturday.
The Carrier Strike Group 9 nuclear-powered aircraft carrier entered the and was joined by the destroyers USS Halsey and USS Daniel Inouye, according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.
The carrier’s arrival comes as South Korea, the United States and Japan are expected to hold their first multi-domain trilateral exercise, Freedom Edge, later this month amid joint efforts to strengthen security cooperation in the face of North Korean threats.
