Presidential elections in Algeria: 31 candidates have submitted their files.

Algeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Sunday evening that the number of candidates for the presidential elections scheduled for September had reached 31.
Mohamed Charfi, head of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said in a press conference that 18 July is the deadline for those wishing to run in the elections.

Charfi added that the final list of approved candidates will be announced on 27 July, before the list of approved candidates is submitted to the Constitutional Court for a final decision.

On 21 March, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune decided to hold early presidential elections on 7 September 2024.
