Indian authorities said on Tuesday that 87 people were killed and dozens more injured in a stampede.
NDTV reported that the stampede occurred during a religious gathering in a village in the city of Hathras due to overcrowding.
State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered an investigation into the incident, relief and rescue operations, and care and treatment for the injured. The authorities have also ordered financial compensation for the injured and the families of the deceased.
