Voters in Rwanda went to the polls on Monday to cast their ballots in the country’s presidential election.
Polling stations opened at 0500 GMT. More than nine million voters out of a population of 14 million are eligible to elect the president and members of parliament.
Preliminary results are expected on 20 July, according to Reuters.
Rwanda’s presidency is being contested by incumbent President Paul Kagame, who has been in office since 2000, and two other candidates, Frank Habineza and Philippe Mbayimana, who ran against Kagame in 2017.
