Germany’s Ursula von der Leyen was on Thursday re-elected by the European Parliament for a second five-year term as President of the European Commission.
The 720-member European Parliament approved von der Leyen with 401 votes in favour, 284 against, 15 abstentions and 7 cancelled votes.
The 65-year-old German conservative politician will take office as President of the European Commission for the first time on 1 December 2019.
