Bangladesh’s Law Minister Anisul Huq announced on Wednesday that the government will implement the Supreme Court’s decision to reduce the quota for families of war veterans from 30 per cent to 5 per cent in public sector jobs, following protests in the country.
Hawke said: “We will implement the court’s decision to meet the demands of the protesters,” he said, according to the Dhaka Tribune.
He stressed that efforts would continue to restore the country’s educational life to its former glory.
Violent protests in Bangladesh since last week have left 187 people dead and hundreds injured and arrested.
