The death toll from the cholera epidemic has risen to 235, the Sudanese Ministry of Health announced Tuesday.

In a statement, the ministry reported 361 new cases of cholera, including seven deaths, in the northern states of Kassala, Gedaref and River Nile.

The statement added: “This brings the number of cholera infections to 6,618.
This year’s health disaster coincides with the ongoing suffering from the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which has left some 18,800 people dead and nearly 10 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations.
