The Ministry of Health in Cameroon announced today (Wednesday) that the monkeypox virus has caused two deaths since April in the country. It also reported 46 suspected cases, including six confirmed cases during this period, according to Agence France-Presse.
A statement published on Wednesday, following a report released on Tuesday evening by Cameroonian Health Minister Malachie Manaouda, indicated that “since the re-emergence of the disease in April 2024, the country has recorded 46 suspected cases of monkeypox, including six confirmed cases, with two reported deaths.”
The statement also noted that the outbreak is “not related to the newer, more deadly strain (Clade 1b),” according to the Ministry of Health.
