The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) stated on Monday that any further escalation between Israel and Hezbollah could lead to far-reaching and devastating consequences.

This came in the context of intense Israeli airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon, which resulted in dozens of casualties and prompted responses from the party.

UNIFIL clarified in its statement that the current escalation poses a threat not only to the people living on both sides of the Blue Line but also to the region as a whole.
