A new Israeli attack on the headquarters of the Sri Lankan contingent of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon has resulted in injuries, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
The shelling targeted observation towers at UNIFIL headquarters in Ras al-Naqoura and the headquarters of the Sri Lankan battalion, causing a number of injuries among UNIFIL ranks,’ the ministry said in a statement, condemning ‘in the strongest terms the systematic and deliberate targeting by the Israeli army’ as clashes continue in the border area between Israel and Hezbollah, AFP reported.
The targeting comes hours after Israeli warplanes launched a ‘violent raid near UNIFIL headquarters in the Naqoura area on Thursday evening, with no further information available,’ according to Lebanese state media.
