Ukrainian president visits France to rally European support

French President Emmanuel Macron met today with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, who is currently visiting Paris.

Zelensky said his tour of key European allies was aimed at mobilising more support in the face of Russia’s military operation in his country.

He insisted that a ceasefire with Russia was not on the agenda of his whirlwind tour of Europe, arguing that reports of it were the result of disinformation from Moscow.

President Zelensky repeated his call for a rapid increase in Western aid to Kiev. We need your support before the winter,’ he said.

For his part, President Macron stressed that France’s aid was continuing ‘in line with its commitments’ and highlighted ‘the progress made in training and equipping a unit’.
