Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirmed on Sunday that Baghdad rejects any “continuation of the war and its expansion towards” Iran, as well as any “exploitation of Iraqi airspace as a corridor.” This statement comes in response to Israeli threats to retaliate for the missile attack carried out by Tehran in early October.
During a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Baghdad, Hussein stated that “the continuation of the war and the exploitation of Iraqi airspace by Israel is completely unacceptable,” emphasizing that the decision for war or peace lies solely with the Iraqi state.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking from Baghdad, said: “While we have made tremendous efforts in recent days to contain a comprehensive war in our region, I want to be clear that we have no red lines in defending our people and our interests.
