Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the 16th BRICS Summit to be held in the Russian city of Kazan from 22 to 24 October, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.

During his visit, the Chinese president will hold meetings with leaders with various dialogues and hold various activities to discuss the current international situation, ministry spokesman Mao Ning said at a press conference.

BRICS, originally comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, has emerged as an economic and political powerhouse in recent years.
