Tunisia: Qais Saied Takes the Oath of Office for a Second Presidential Term

Qais Saied, the elected President of Tunisia for a second term, will take the constitutional oath on Monday before the House of Representatives and the National Council of Regions and Provinces, in a joint session to be held at the Bardo Palace.
Saied (66 years old) won his second presidential term in the elections held on October 6, 2024, where he competed against Ayachi Zammal and Zohair Maghzaoui. The Independent High Electoral Authority announced the final results on October 11, indicating that Saied received 90.69% of the votes (2,197,551 votes) in the first round.
Although the constitution does not require the elected president to deliver a speech before the two councils, it has become customary for them to give a speech during the oath-taking ceremony at the start of their five-year presidential term.
