Human rights activists in Sudan announced that the Rapid Support Forces killed at least 124 people and injured 100 others in a raid on the village of Al-Sariha.
The Sudanese activists indicated that this was part of “a retaliatory response to the surrender of the prominent RSF officer Abu Aqla Kikil last Sunday, to the village from which the officer hails,” which resulted in the killing and arrest of several civilians and the displacement of thousands.
The Rapid Support Forces accused, in a statement, the Sudanese army of arming civilians in Al-Jazeera and using forces under Kikil’s command, which prompted them to launch their attacks.
The armed conflict in Sudan has displaced more than 11 million people, while more than half of the population is suffering from hunger.
