The spokesperson for Kufra Municipality, Abdullah Suleiman Hamid, pointed out that the municipality is facing security pressures due to the ongoing increase in the number of Sudanese refugees, noting that hundreds of refugees arrive daily, which burdens the city.

Thousands of refugee families have settled in Kufra, including cases affected by infectious diseases, prompting the municipality to allocate a health center to provide necessary care.

Hamid confirmed that some humanitarian organizations are working to provide blankets and food supplies for the refugees. However, some violations and theft incidents have been reported, further increasing the pressure on the city’s security forces.
