Brazil ranks fourth in the world for domestic flights

Brazil became the fourth largest domestic aviation market in the world in 2024, representing 1.2% of the global total, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
According to the Ministry of Tourism, the new position indicates a recovery in the number of domestic travellers after the pandemic and shows that the sector is at the same pace as in other countries, such as the United States, China and Japan, which lead the global ranking

According to the ministry, the domestic market grew by 6.6 per cent this year, above the global average. The global average was 5.6 per cent. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), there were 44 million passengers on domestic flights in Brazil in July.
Data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) shows that 80 per cent of the nearly 10 million tourists who travelled by air in September travelled to national destinations, according to the ministry.
