Newly elected President Duma Poku was officially sworn in by Chief Justice Terence Ranwane on Friday to become the sixth President of the Republic of Botswana.
In his acceptance speech on Botswana Television after his inauguration, Poku stressed the importance of taking the oath of office without delay, saying any delay would leave the country without a leader.
He promised to look for ways to diversify the southern African country’s economy, which relies on the sale of diamonds.
