The tenth summit of G20 parliamentary leaders, known as the P20, began on Wednesday at the Chamber of Deputies in Brasilia. This year’s theme is ‘Parliaments for a Just World and a Sustainable Planet’.
The event brings together representatives from the parliaments of the world’s 19 largest economies, the European Union and the African Union, as well as international organisations.
Over the course of three days, proposals to address gender inequality, racial disparities, hunger, poverty and the environmental crisis will be discussed.
At the opening of the event, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (German People’s Party), defended gender equality.
