Climate change has led to an increase in forced displacement globally, with 120 million people being forced to leave their homes due to extreme weather, according to a report from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Seventy-five percent of these displaced individuals face difficult conditions in areas vulnerable to climate-related risks. Additionally, data indicates that climate-related disasters have driven 220 million people into internal displacement over the past decade.
Looking ahead, forecasts suggest the situation will worsen, with a rise in extreme heat days in refugee camps, putting both their health and agricultural activities at risk.
