COP29 :Brazil presents plan to cut carbon emissions

Brazil has become the second country to submit the third generation of its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from 59 per cent to 67 per cent by 2035.
Brazil submitted its previously unveiled plan to reduce carbon emissions to the United Nations Executive Secretary for Climate Change, Simon Steel, at the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Brazil’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, explained that the variable range in the reduction targets is due to the long time horizon (more than ten years) and possible changes in economic scenarios. International cooperation and technological progress. The focus is on reducing emissions from more than 2,000 million tonnes of carbon dioxide to 850 million, supported by the Climate Plan and the Environmental Transformation Plan, which establishes a new development model for Brazil,” said Silva.
