China and Brazil have decided to upgrade their relations to a China-Brazil community of shared destiny for a fairer world and a more sustainable planet.
The decision was made during a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is on a state visit to Brazil, to celebrate the rapprochement between the two countries.
Xi and Lula aim to consolidate the strong relationship between China and Brazil, two major emerging economies with the world’s second and seventh largest populations respectively.
According to Xinhua, the Chinese president intends to discuss ‘improving relations that promote synergy between the two countries’ development strategies’.
The Chinese President expressed his country’s willingness to support Brazil in hosting the 30th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Brazil is seeking to diversify its exports through ‘Brazilian products with higher added value’, according to Eduardo Paes, Secretary for Asia at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
