Philippines: 12 killed by typhoons Man-Yi, Toraje and Usagi

Twelve people have died as a result of typhoons Man-Yi, Toraje and Usagi that struck the Philippines.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Council on Thursday, according to the Philippine news agency BNA.


The statement said 12 people were killed and 14 others injured, in addition to the three deaths caused by the typhoons.
The typhoons affected more than 3.5 million people in seven regions of the country, while 300,953 people remained in 2,331 evacuation centres in the regions.
The Philippines is prone to storms and typhoons, with an estimated 20 storms and typhoons hitting the country and surrounding waters each year.
