Qatar launches $3bn project to boost tourism sector

Qatar has broken ground on a $3 billion theme park project to boost its inbound tourism industry.
This was announced by Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman in an Xbox post on Thursday.
Bin Abdulrahman wrote: ‘Today, we laid the foundation stone for the Entertainment City in the Smeesma Beach project, as a new step towards boosting the tourism and entertainment sector in Qatar.
We hope that the project will contribute to the enhancement of the tourism scene and help achieve the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030,’ he added.

In a statement, Qatari real estate investment company Qatari Diar said the tourism project will be a joint venture with FTG Development and aims to revolutionise tourism and leisure in the region.
The 650,000 square metre project, called The Land of Legends, is expected to attract two million visitors a year.
The project will cost around $3 billion and will be completed by 2028, according to FTG.
