The ongoing clashes between Sunni and Shia groups in northwest Pakistan over the past ten days have resulted in 13 additional deaths, bringing the total number of casualties to 124.
A local official reported that there is a complete lack of trust between the two sides, with neither group complying with the government’s orders to stop the fighting.
The latest wave of violence began last Thursday when two convoys of Shia citizens, traveling under police protection, were ambushed, resulting in at least 43 deaths and 11 others critically wounded.
