Spain records highest crude oil imports from Venezuela since 2006

Data from “Cores,” a subsidiary of Spain’s Ministry of Energy, revealed today (Wednesday) that Spain’s imports of Venezuelan crude oil have reached their highest level in nearly 20 years.
Spain imported 151,000 metric tons of Venezuelan oil in October, and total imports for 2024 are expected to reach 2.6 million tons, the highest level since 2006.
Venezuelan oil exports also rose last month to levels not seen since 2020, with increased shipments to North America and Europe, thanks to U.S. licenses for partners of the state-run oil company “PDVSA.”
