TASS news agency reported on Sunday evening that former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his family members have arrived in the capital, Moscow and that Russia has granted asylum to Bashar al-Assad and his family.
Earlier on Sunday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Assad had decided to leave the country and relinquish his position, ordering a peaceful transfer of power after negotiations with parties involved in the conflict.
Russia has requested an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council regarding Syria for tomorrow, Monday, to discuss the developments in the situation.
