Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Sunday that the new Syrian administration must be inclusive, emphasizing that the Syrian people will determine their future after the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad.
During a press conference in Doha, Fidan added that Syrians cannot rebuild their country on their own and called on international and regional powers to act wisely and cautiously, avoiding the exploitation of terrorist organizations in the current situation.
Regarding the whereabouts of former President Bashar al-Assad, Fidan remarked that he believes Assad is outside the country, confirming that Turkey has not communicated with him, despite President Erdogan’s call for dialogue.
Fidan also emphasized that the fall of Assad would provide an opportunity for millions of Syrian refugees to return to their homeland.
