FIFA set to confirm Saudi Arabia as 2034 World Cup host

FIFA will announce Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday.

The FIFA Congress is holding a meeting to approve the budget for the next three years and announce the victory of the joint bid by Morocco, Portugal and Spain to host the 2030 World Cup.
Saudi Arabia’s bid for the 2034 World Cup will also be announced, making it the first country to host the World Cup in the new 48-team format.

FIFA announced that Saudi Arabia’s bid received a score of 419.8 out of a possible 500 points, the highest technical score FIFA has ever awarded to a World Cup bid.

Saudi Arabia officially submitted its bid on 27 July in Paris, France, and no other country has submitted a bid, leaving Saudi Arabia as the sole candidate.
