Human Rights Watch Accuses Poland of Violating Asylum Seekers’ Rights at the Border with Belarus

Human Rights Watch has confirmed violations and unlawful pushbacks at the border between Poland and Belarus.

The organization called for accountability from the Polish government for violating the rights of asylum seekers.

The report is based on in-depth interviews conducted in November 2024 with 22 asylum seekers.

The findings revealed that border officers are preventing individuals arriving from Belarus from applying for asylum, even after they have entered Polish territory, including instances of detaining migrants several kilometers inside Poland.
