Qatar announced on Sunday that it will reopen its embassy in Syria on Tuesday after being closed for nearly 13 years, following the ousting of Bashar al-Assad’s regime by opposition factions.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry said in a statement: ‘The State of Qatar announces the resumption of work at its embassy in the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic as of Tuesday and the appointment of Khalifa Abdullah Al Mahmoud Al Sharif as charge d’affaires.
The resumption of the work of the embassy in Damascus comes almost 13 years after the severance of all diplomatic relations with the Syrian regime in 2011,” it said.
