The Syrian authorities announced this morning that the first domestic flight has taken off from Damascus International Airport to Aleppo.

Damascus airport has reopened for domestic flights as the interim government prepares the airport for international flights and the return of Syrian refugees.

This is the first civilian flight from Damascus International Airport to Aleppo Airport since the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime at the hands of Syrian opposition forces.
