Ousted South Korean president Yun Suk-yol failed to appear before investigators for questioning on Wednesday, the second time in a week that he has refused a request from investigators.
Investigators asked Yun to appear for questioning at 10 a.m. (South Korean time), but he refused. The ousted president, a former prosecutor, had refused to attend a questioning session last Wednesday without giving an explanation for his absence, according to AFP.
Parliament impeached Yun on 14 December after he tried to impose martial law, plunging the country into one of its worst political crises in decades. The ousted president faces charges of rebellion, which could carry the death penalty or life imprisonment, after a trial that lasted just hours and drew condemnation from Seoul’s allies in the democratic government.
