The Bahrain national team sealed qualification for the semi-finals of the Gulf 26 tournament currently being held in Kuwait after a deserved 2-0 victory over Iraq in their second round Group B match at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium on Wednesday.
The Bahraini team opened the scoring in the 39th minute through Ali Madan, who scored a wonderful goal after receiving a perfect cross from teammate Mohammed Marhoon to give Bahrain a 1-0 lead at the half.
At the start of the second half, Ali Madan doubled the lead with a second goal, taking advantage of a major defensive lapse by the Iraqi team. Despite Iraqi attempts to reduce the deficit, Bahrain held on to their lead and finished the match with a valuable 2-0 victory.
The result lifted Bahrain to 6 points at the top of Group B, their second win in a row. Iraq, on the other hand, remain level on 3 points with Saudi Arabia.Yemen are bottom of the group with no points.
