The South Korean government said on Monday it plans to conduct a safety inspection of all Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by domestic airlines in the wake of the Jeju Air crash that killed 179 people a day earlier.
The government plans to conduct a comprehensive review of whether airlines are properly complying with various aircraft regulations and will examine their aircraft utilisation rates, flight inspections and maintenance records, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency quoted a transport ministry official as saying.
In particular, the ministry plans to conduct strict safety inspections on Jeju Airlines after repeated landing gear problems, he said.
